Sexual Assault Survivors, Inc. (SASI) was established in 1996 in response to the community's need to provide services to victims of sexual assault. It is our mission to reduce sexual assault and sexual harassment, providing free support services and prevention education for all people in Weld County.

Based on our knowledge of sexual assault, it is our philosophy that no victim is ever responsible for the crime committed against them. This philosophy is the driving force behind our service to the community and to victims of sexual assault. SASI staff and volunteers specialize in sexual assault crisis response, related victim/survivor services, sexual assault community education and support of improved system response.

SASI provides 24 hour access to crisis counseling and information/referrals seven days a week via our hotline. SASI also offers Spanish language services. We assist victims and their friends and family by providing emotional support during all stages of reporting, evidence collection, and court hearings. SASI provides assistance to all victims in any stage of recovery. SASI staff and advocates provide information regarding Victims' Rights and are able to assist clients completing Victim Compensation applications. SASI provides referrals for additional support services such as professional counseling and medical treatment. We can also assist with emergency food, clothing, transportation and shelter as needed, when funding is available.

Our ongoing goals are:

  • Providing 24 hour/ 7 days per week, support for victims of sexual assault and their loved ones. Services are provided to all victims even if the assault is not reported to law enforcement. Services include crisis intervention, hotline counseling, advocacy, emotional support, information and referrals.
  • Training volunteer advocates in assisting victim/survivors with services related to sexual assault and trauma. This training includes specific education regarding issues of child sexual assault, victim advocacy, parents-as-secondary-victims advocacy, and interagency cooperation.
  • Supporting North Colorado Medical center in their efforts to implement a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) program. Also providing support to all other agencies involved in these collaborative efforts.
  • To network, collaborate, and work cooperatively with law enforcement, medical and mental health professionals, and other victim service agencies so that re-victimization is minimized.
  • To provide sexual assault awareness and prevention education for communities, agencies, students and civic groups throughout Weld County, striving to reduce the incidence of sexual assault.
  • To network, collaborate, and work cooperatively with regional, state, and national sexual assault prevention and victim service agencies to remain abreast with current legislation, actions, studies, and information regarding sexual assault issues.
  • To increase our visibility in the community.
  • To raise funds sufficient to meet our goals and objectives.
